The reputation of our specialist insurance practice has led to a number of key staff acquisitions and the continuing expansion in our service delivery in this area of law. All members of our team are career specialists; insurance litigation is their chosen area of expertise.

An extensive array of internal portfolio management tools and processes ensures highly responsive claims management with accurate and reliable client reporting.

Our specialist technical skills are complemented by insight into the inner workings of the insurance industry and we have a demonstrated commitment to supporting the industry as shown by the strong ties we have developed with industry bodies such as the Risk Managers Institution of Australia, the Self Insurers Association and the Australian Insurance Law Association.

Across all our claims portfolios we have particular expertise in dealing with catastrophic and complex multiple litigant claims which often span across a diverse range of legal issues.

Practice Strengths

Workers compensation

Bartier Perry is a recognised leader in the field of workers compensation acting exclusively for employers and insurers. We hold appointments on the workers compensation panels of a number of major insurers and act for approximately one third of the self insurers in NSW in a range of industries as diverse as manufacturing, mining, transport, electricity and local government.

Successful management of workers compensation issues increasingly demands an integrated strategy which takes account of occupational health and safety issues, employment and industrial relations. Working closely with our workplace team, we are expert in advising on the interface of workers compensation, OHS and employment issues

Public Liability

Our experience covers a wide range of incidents leading to liability claims from slip and fall to explosions, poisonings and fatalities. We bring a depth of experience to the defence of these claims which includes consideration of the Civil Liability Act, contractual indemnity, claims for contribution and the Trade Practices Act. We also have substantial expertise in providing advice on policy coverage.

In the broader context of managing liability we are often asked to advise organisations at a strategic planning level on risk minimisation. As is the case across all areas of our insurance practice, Bartier Perry looks beyond the claim to address issues of on-going risk management.
