Gerard’s principal practice areas include wills, estate and business succession planning, capacity and mental health law issues, powers of attorney, enduring guardianship appointments, probate, estate administration, contested estate litigation, equity and trusts law and property law. Gerard has also advised and been involved as an expert witness in succession law cases.

Gerard is an Accredited Specialist in Wills and Estates Law and a Notary Public.

Gerard is involved in the following industry organisations:

• Editorial Committee of the Wills and Probate Bulletin (Victoria).
• Registered Trust and Estate Practitioner with the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP) and Member of the Sydney STEP Branch.
• Secretary of the NSW Wills and Estates Law Accredited Specialists Practice Group.

Gerard is also a Board member of the Diocesan Development Fund for the Diocese of Parramatta.
