COVID-19 - Year end reporting and paying dividends: Insolvency considerations in uncertain times

Bartier Perry is pleased to join forces with BRI Ferrier to present this seminar on directors’ duties surrounding financial information provided to and considered by companies and their boards of directors, with a particular focus on the forecasting and modelling which should be undertaken before declaring and paying dividends during the COVID-19 era.

During this webinar, we will focus on:

  • Directors’ obligations in declaring and paying dividends.

  • Practical considerations for directors to avoid the potential consequences of an improperly paid or declared dividend and reduce their risk of personal liability.

Paul Croft, Director at BRI Ferrier

As a Director of BRI Ferrier, Paul has over 20 years of experience in forensic accounting, financial due diligence, financial reporting, financial control and finance transformation. Spanning careers in leading global consulting firms and Australia’s largest financial and educational institutions, Paul is an expert in data analysis, financial modelling, forecasting and structured operating model reviews.

John Keenan, Principal at BRI Ferrier

John is a Chartered Accountant with over 20 years professional experience, specialising in corporate restructuring for businesses in both growth and distress situations. John’s expertise extends from advising boards in difficult circumstances, to taking control of businesses through formal appointments such as Voluntary Administration and Liquidations. He has experience in many industries including financial services, retail, listed entities, manufacturing, insurance, clubs and not-for-profit entities. On numerous assignments, he has sold businesses, introduced new management and capital and resolved commercial disputes as part of restructuring engagements.  

Phoebe Martin, Lawyer in Commercial Disputes Team at Bartier Perry

Phoebe is a commercial disputes lawyer, with particular expertise in insolvency advice and litigation. Phoebe has broad experience in acting for creditors, directors and many leading insolvency practitioners providing technical insolvency advice, as well as representation both prior to commencement and during the litigation process. She has had conduct of proceedings in both the State and Federal Courts and is the most recent member of Bartier Perry’s team to obtain ARITA’s Advanced Certification in Insolvency.
