Kamran is passionate about helping vulnerable sections of our society and the not-for-profit sector. He believes in working for equality of access to justice for everyone in the community.

Kamran manages Bartier Perry’s comprehensive pro bono legal services program, oversees the firm’s engagement with our pro bono partners and ensures our pro bono clients are connected to the right lawyers in the right teams.

Kamran has more than 8 years of experience in general commercial work. He routinely provides legal services on a variety of commercial matters to charities and to disadvantaged members of the community when they need it the most.

  • Bachelor of Laws (Hons) / Bachelor of Commerce (The University of Sydney)

  • Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales

 

A word from Kamran

I enjoy working for Bartier Perry because it takes its social responsibility seriously and devotes extensive resources to help those in need.  As a Pro Bono Senior Associate, I am able to combine my years of commercial law experience with my passion for social justice and human rights.  Among other areas, I get to work to improve indigenous communities’ access to justice, promote gender equality and empower people with disabilities, as well as drive Bartier Perry’s overall pro bono strategy.

 

Career highlights

  • Assisting in filing High Court applications for asylum seekers, brought to Australia from offshore detention centres on medical grounds, to stop their removal from Australia

  • Providing advice to international law students, through regular community legal centre advice sessions, on a range of commercial issues including employment, debt, contracts and tenancy

  • Writing parliamentary submissions, media releases and consultation papers advocating on issues of civil liberties involving national security, citizenship and religious freedom laws

  • Establishing estate planning structures for a client with net-worth exceeding $600 million

  • Completing a $4.5 million finance deal for multiple lender subsidiaries of a major public company

  • Mentoring students and young lawyers in achieving their career aspirations
