Amanda has a strong background in insurance law, and has developed a wealth of knowledge in the area of workers compensation since she started practising in the area more than ten years ago.

Amanda acts for clients in all segments of the workers compensation industry including self-insured employers (particularly councils), claims agents and state government agencies.

Amanda has a particular interest in claims involving complex legal and medical issues and aims to provide strategic advice on how to manage these claims most effectively.

Amanda has assumed a leading role at the firm in reviewing the significant workers compensation legislative reforms in 2012, 2014 and 2015; presenting on the reforms and providing complex advice to clients on their implementation.

  • Investigating and resolving claims for statutory workers compensation benefits, in particular, complex and sensitive psychological injury claims.

  • Defending high cost work injury damages claims.

  • Resolving allied employment issues, including employment termination.

  • Acting for a scheme agent in defence of an administrative law challenge to a Medical Appeal Panel permanent impairment ruling in the Supreme Court of NSW.

  • Presenting on the workers compensation legislative reforms and providing complex advice to clients on their implementation.
