Tayah is a Senior Associate in the Dispute Resolution and Advisory team, with six years’ experience acting across a broad range of general commercial and building and construction disputes.

She has represented clients in all New South Wales Courts and Tribunals, as well as the Federal Court of Australia, and is experienced in managing complex litigation at every stage, from early strategy and negotiation through to hearing and enforcement.

Tayah acts and advises in relation to a diverse range of disputes, including professional disciplinary proceedings, construction and building disputes, and general commercial litigation, including contractual and property-related matters. She works with a broad client base, including individuals, business owners, developers, builders and professionals, providing clear, practical advice tailored to each client’s circumstances and objectives. Her approach is grounded in a strong understanding of both the legal framework and the commercial realities her clients face.

Career highlights 

  • Acted for professional regulators prosecuting solicitors and barristers in complex disciplinary proceedings before NCAT, as well as in appeals arising from those proceedings. This experience delivers strategic insight into regulator decision making and evidentiary requirements, enabling efficient, well targeted litigation that protects the integrity of the profession while minimising cost and delay.

  • Acts for solicitors subject to complaints and investigations by professional regulators, providing early, pragmatic advice to manage regulatory risk. By engaging proactively with regulators and shaping responses from the outset, clients are better positioned to narrow issues, reduce exposure, and protect their professional standing and practising certificates.

  • Appeared for defendants in NCAT and Supreme Court proceedings involving building defects and technically complex liability questions. This includes matters requiring careful analysis of expert evidence and statutory obligations, helping clients navigate disputes efficiently and achieve commercially sensible outcomes.

  • Successfully acted in Supreme Court proceedings for a private client concerning a breach of contract and misleading and deceptive conduct. This work assisted the client to manage significant financial risk.
