Anna Markley

Since joining Bartier Perry in 2019, Anna has gained experience in toxic tort litigation, work injury damages litigation and managing workers compensation claims. She acts for federal and state government agencies, employers, insurers, private businesses and corporations.

Anna represents clients in the Dust Diseases Tribunal, Supreme and District Courts of NSW, and in jurisdictions right across Australia. She provides strategic advice to clients throughout the entire claims process, from initial notification of claims and claims management advice, through to appearances in court, at mediations and hearings.  Her focus is on resolving claims in a fair and efficient manner for all involved, working to balance the commercial needs of her clients with achieving desirable outcomes. 

Anna’s clients appreciate her common-sense approach to resolving claims. Her friendly manner means she is best-placed to advocate for her clients and lead settlement strategy in their best interests.

Career highlights

• Developing a portfolio strategy and associated policy documents for managing a portfolio of claims.

• Resolving urgent dust claims within the lifetime of sick claimants. This is particularly important in dust diseases claims, and can leave claimants and their families with a sense of peace.

• Forensic investigation of complex medical claim which resulted in early resolution, and savings of hundreds of thousands of dollars for the client.

• Significant work on a complex and high-value personal injury claim for a private corporation, including development of litigation strategy and preparation of the matter for a four-week hearing.

• Regularly representing government and corporate clients in dust diseases claims in NSW, Victoria and Queensland.

• Meaningfully participating in mediations to ensure successful outcomes for clients.

• Managing urgent dust diseases claims in a efficient and timely manner.

• Providing strategic advice, particularly in relation to complicated liability and/or medical issues.

• Balancing the needs of clients with all other active parties in complicated multi-party litigation.
