Reflecting on IAC2025 and what’s next

A few months on from IAC2025, we are reflecting on what a fantastic event it was – meeting so many businesses as part of the NSW Government exhibition space and sharing ideas about the future of space.

Since IAC, our Associate Samantha Pacchiarotta featured on the Lawyers Weekly Show podcast discussing ‘Space law’s headline legal quandaries, from governance to junk’. Sam explored emerging legal issues shaping the future of space - from governance and liability to the growing challenge of space junk.

At Bartier Perry, we’re a full-service commercial law firm working across corporate and commercial law, intellectual property, supply and distribution, finance, workplace law and culture, property and environment, dispute resolution, private client services, insurance law and more.

We’re excited about the key announcements from IAC025 and how they’ll drive industrial capability and resilience for Australia’s space sector, particularly:

  • The Australian Government mandate to initiate negotiations on a Cooperative Agreement with the European Space Agency, creating formal mechanisms for collaboration in manufacturing, scientific research, satellite launch, and human spaceflight.

  • The landmark treaty-level Space Framework Agreement with the United States

If we can assist with anything, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’d be happy to grab a coffee or jump on a quick call if you’d like to hear more about what we do.
